The universe is good to me as long as I put in some effort. Today I remembered to order my #presidentialbookswap book and thought... I will wait.. I don't know if I should make a package or ship it direct from Amazon, bc it's so late in the game.. I believe the universe has answered. Thank you @Amiable for the goodies and the books. You made my day!! I am on a mission now to get my book out and surprise my secret swapper. 🥳🎉

Amiable Glad it got there! Hope you enjoy the books! 5y

I loved this look at the fascinating marriage and partnership of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. The only part that didn't move along quickly was the very beginning, and after that I could hardly put it down. Crammed full of fascinating tidbits taken from a variety of primary sources, this did a remarkable job of zooming in on a particular recollection, then zooming out to see the whole picture. I look forward to reading more by Hazel Rowley.

Just needed to share that FDR was a babe in 1920.

Bloomingjen Teddy Roosevelt was also a hottie in his day. People think I am crazy when I say this. 7y

"As it turned out, 1924 was not a good time to run for the presidency as a Democrat. The United States was entering a period of economic boom."

Little did they know what was coming just a few short years later...

Ha!! ??

As Alice put it: "My father... lived up to his reputation of bring the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral and hogged the limelight unashamedly."

Giving this one another go. I started it a few years ago and only got about 20 pages in before I got distracted. Also shown- a bookmark from my favorite ever bookstore- Northshire, in Manchester, VT. 💜💜

This is a great summary of the Roosevelt's during their married years. It's not ABOUT their marriage as much as about them while they were married. If you haven't read much on them, this will be a great book. If you have, this is just a condensed overview.

Every book I read about them, I hope for a different outcome, even though I know it's impossible. I want a faithful FDR, a nicer Sara and a more affectionate ER. #readwomen
