Over all in really enjoyed this book. Even though I hated HS, I could relate. I loved this "Spanish" guy. His phrases are so random.
Onto the movie now. Mn

Finished “Struck By Lightning.” I had absolutely no idea that one of my favorites from Glee was an author! I enjoyed the story and Carson‘s issues with those around him, but he really became just as bad, IMO. I feel that the story wrapped too quick. I would have liked for Carson and his mom to have more of an interaction regarding what she had done. Even so, this had me laughing often.

Listened to this short YA book from Hoopla. I dunno, some weird early writer missteps especially that ending. And the main character is an outcast but SO pretentious and SUCH a bully that I had no empathy for him. I realized after starting that I‘d seen the movie. My Newest Literary Fiction Group in GoodReads is focusing on YA this month so get ready! #hoopla

Carson Phillips is snarky, sarcastic, manipulative and egotistical. He's had a sad life and sees his town as a prison rather than a chance.

All in all I need to read this book again. Last time I did was 2014-ish.

Carson Phillips is so relatable and funny, you'll be laughing out loud. He blackmails all the bullies in school to contribute to his literary journal. Clever and smart, this book is great for high schoolers and YA-lovers of all age. 4/5 stars

Another Chris Colfer novel. No regrets. This book is one of the best high school novels I've read. Carson Philips is sassy and at his wits end. It's an amazing book and never fails to make me laugh and cry. Also: the movie is just as good as the book.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable read, I don't have too much criticism for this book. I enjoyed that despite all of the seriousness & the stress the character felt, there was still room for a lot of comedic relief.

A light read, Chris Colfer yet aain managed to capture the attention of bibliophiles with the movie tie-in of the SBL film. This book takes another direction from the film, as it speaks in a first person with genuine feelings. The optimism and negativity is what this made the book totally no bailer!
