These are two companion volumes. I've already reviewed Going Solo, the more scholarly of the two. Singled Out is full of polemic and examples from the authors personal life and pop culture. She's an engaging writer and makes a lot of great points, but seems to fixate on certain things and lose track of the bigger picture. Also, she might overstate the case of the cultural bias favoring couples over singles. Still, a worthwhile and fun read.
