While poetry is never going to be my thing, there were a few parts of this that resonated with me.

An April #Roll100 pick (roll 33)

Not every poem was to my taste, but every poem left me thinking. My favourite poems in the collection were Prayer For the Man Who Raped Her, She is Spitting A Mouthful of Stars, and This is an Honour Song for Billy Jack, in that order. I would read more from Gregory Scofield, and I would recommend Witness, I Am to anyone looking for a good poetry collection, or specifically to anyone looking to explore indigenous poetry.

I'm working from home today, which means I can use my commuting time to read! #poetry

A solid #poetry collection that explores issues of #Metis and #gay identity, as well as the tragedy of missing and murdered #Indigenous women in Canada. My favourite poem is Muskrat Woman, a long narrative piece that combines a traditional tale with contemporary gender-based violence:
"He says, 'Get me a piece
Of the old earth.'
She says, 'Fuck you!
Get your own dirt.'"
