I had high hopes for this series since I‘ve heard so much good about it, but I found the first book to be only good, but not great. Did not (yet) fully warm up to the characters or the story, but I think I‘ll grow into liking this series a lot. 3,5
Looking at lots off Q8.99 books and then checking if someone I know has read them. Turns out @Andrew65 is reading about half of them right now, according to Goodreads ?? I guess he‘s not updating too frequently. Now I don‘t know if I should buy all these books or not. Andrew, you need to rate the books so that I know if I should checked them out or not! ?
One side of my family came from the Fens, I have visited there. One thing that I never saw; Gangs of wandering juvenile delinquents terrorising town and country. That being said I kind of enjoyed this rather clichéd book; a DCI on her last warning, haunted by past cases is partnered with a by the book detective with his own skeletons in the closet. Together they grow and heal as they investigate a missing girl and a spate of juvenile crime .
Book one in the DI Nikki Galena series and it hooked me with a wallop. I listened to the Audible version and the narrator helped with her brilliant portrayal of the characters. I love detective mysteries and this promises to be a terrific series.
Read with a thick lilt and including a few references I was unsure of, (the cabra? Cabra? since I listened to it I didn't know if it was a proper noun place or an improper noun place) I enjoyed this mystery (not loved, but liked). Perhaps not the most exciting or surprising that I've ever read, but entertaining nonetheless, more in the characterizations than anything else.
Got this from Hoopla to listen to while in my studio this afternoon and really like it- first in a series- good narrator and compelling procedural so far! Anyone else read this series?
This was a fast paced thriller that reminded me of books by Tana French. I loved the narration on this book and all the different English accents. I recommend the audio version for entertainment while driving.
