The Wrath of Angels
The Wrath of Angels: A Charlie Parker Thriller | John Connolly
5 posts | 7 read | 8 to read
In the depths of the Maine woods, the wreckage of a plane is discovered. There are no bodies, and no such plane has ever been reported missing, but men both good and evil have been seeking it for a long, long time. What the wreckage conceals is more important than money. It is power: a list of names, a record of those who have struck a deal with the devil. Now a battle is about to commence between those who want the list to remain secret and those for whom it represents a crucial weapon in the struggle against the forces of darkness. The race to secure the prize draws in private detective Charlie Parker, a man who knows more than most about the nature of the terrible evil that seeks to impose itself on the world, and who fears that his own name may be on the list. It lures others, too: a beautiful, scarred woman with a taste for killing; a silent child who remembers his own death; and a serial killer known as the Collector, who sees in the list new lambs for his slaughter. But as the rival forces descend upon this northern state, the woods prepare to meet them, for the forest depths hide other secrets. Someone has survived the crash. Something has survived the crash. And it is waiting. . . .

With each book I read, this series just gets better and better. I want to rush and start the next one, but I also don't want it to be over yet.

A ghost girl, a crashed plane in the woods, and a variety of individuals all searching for the same thing. This book has more supernatural events happening than gritty crime, but it worked.

TrishB Probably my fave series. Just reading the latest one as new one out later in the year and I like to know there will be one soon! 4y

Another great one in the series- although these are marketed as a crime series these are becoming more and more supernatural/gothic. Love the stories and characters.
Used for #jennyis30 #hardboiledcrime
6/11 #murder2020

Tove_Reads Haven‘t read any of his. Need to check if my library has them. 5y

Just when I think that there are no surprises left for Charlie Parker, John Connolly comes up with something else. I love this series.

“I knew that his God-for each man has his own God-let him wander there sometimes”
I adore Charlie Parker. Connolly is lyrical and atmospheric. This series is consistently top notch. Dark and brooding with moralistic choices and a sense of loyalty to the reader as well as the characters.
