Very readable.
The style of writing can come across as a bit simplistic at times but it‘s like comfort food; it gets the job done decently well. The strength of the narrative is in the background details and little throw away incidents that create the ambiance.

I liked this one less than the first, but that might be only due to disliking the narration more. I'll do the rest of the series in print and see. I do still get the feeling that I'd have loved this series if I'd read it when I was younger.

This month's numbers worked out great for me as I'm continuing on with the next two books in the Belgariad.

Since I‘ve been in a bit of a reading slump thanks to current events, I decided to go back and revisit and old fave. I was overdue for a reread. And it worked! I finished book 1 yesterday and started this one last night.

I love this series just as much as the first time I read it in 1988. ❤️ I can always escape into this series.

I opted for the first line of chapter one instead of the first line of the prologue because I liked this one better. 😀

A solid continuation od The Belgariad. I enjoyed reading it as it made me feel cozy and remember playing Dungeons and Dragons when I was a kid. The whole book is mostly about walking, hiking, strolling and transporting of the characters from one place to another but still the read is enjoyable. I would welcome a deeper character development which is the one thing that always makes or breaks the book for me.

I love these books, and the audio version is so fun.

Ordered four great reads from Book Chor - an amazing website that sells second-hand books! Got a sweet little note and bookmarks as well, and love the fact that these pages have been thumbed through and loved before. Looking forward to a happy week!

Book 2 in the series and I'm still really enjoying it. Love watching Garion grow before me and I don't know what it is but I love Silk too. A great read. Onto book 3.

Continuing my re-read. Despite the relative dearth of female characters, the dialogue is snappy and I like how the group mostly stays together instead of splitting up for books and books like Game of Thrones or the Wheel of Time. Events on the cover occupy the last twenty pages.
