PULP is the last completed novel by Charles Bukowski that was published in 1994 just before his death. Bukowski knew he was dying while writing this, and the book does have a reflective, existential edge. The dedication says "Dedicated to bad writing"
After reading this I only wish he was still alive, I'd love to get drunk with him.

If you are looking for a classic noir novel ... well this not it. It is a detective noir tale told by the Buk with a recognisable avatar of himself as the detective. Lazy, drunk and very jaded he stumbles from case to case involving a increasing strange cast of characters. Be warned this is Bukowski, he is sexist, misogynistic and in no way politically correct. Not his best work, but an interesting comic turn on a well know genre.

One of my favorite lines “I decided to stay in bed until noon. Maybe by then half the world would be dead and it would only be half as hard to take.” classic!

My purchases at lunch time would suggest that I am feeling a little dark and somewhat antisocial at the present moment

This book is a must read.

Always funny, always showing what is best and worst in human nature. This novel turns the hard boiled detective novel on its head but shows a love and respect for the genre. I read this at least twice a year.
