BooksandCoffee4Me Autumn is my favorite season also. Love the cool breezes, but have to admit I love the longer days of June. 😊💛 1w

JenlovesJT47 💛🐝🖤 I‘m in Florida and I‘m already dreading how hot it‘s going to get this summer 🥵 1w
dabbe May I ask where you live? I'm from hotter-than-hell Phoenix! You captured the piercing hot sun with your words and pic! 💛🐝🖤 1w
Reggie My countdown for the year ends with the summer solstice because that‘s when daylight starts getting shorter and we start sliding towards fall. 1w
Kristy_K @BooksandCoffee4Me If only we could have long days with cool breezes. 7d
Kristy_K @dabbe I live in Southern California, but this picture is actually Oslo (where I‘m traveling now). It was 80-100 degrees the week I left So Cal and I was looking forward to the cold but the sun seems just as hot here and I ended sunburnt lol. I can‘t imagine summers in Phoenix! It‘s bad enough in So Cal lol. 7d
Kristy_K @JenlovesJT47 and you have humidity too, right? I‘d never leave the house lol. 7d
Eggs I feel this! Central Texas now: highs each day 98+ 🔥 7d
bellabella It was 94 yesterday with no breeze and humid. It isn't as bad as some of yours, but for me it was awful. 😂 7d
lil1inblue This makes me glad I'm in Michigan. 😅 😉 7d
JenlovesJT47 Yes! I lived in Cali for 2 years for college and it was just as hot there but no humidity. The humidity is the worst here and in Georgia 🥵 7d
dabbe @Kristy_K I lived in San Diego for a few years, and I was amazed at how hot it got! Of course I couldn't afford to live along the beach, so I lived inland, and the desert there is just as hot as Phoenix. How lovely to be in Norway! I visited Bergen back in 1990 (😱) and thought it the most beautiful country I'd ever seen. Enjoy your trip! 💚💜💚 7d
Kristy_K @Eggs It seems too early in the year to be that hot! 7d
Kristy_K @dabbe Thank you! 7d
Kristy_K @bellabella 94 is still awful! 7d
DebinHawaii I‘m already ready for fall & winter! 😅 💛🐝🖤 5d

It seemed for a time that everyone on Litsy was reading this book. I‘m finally getting to it. Such a sweet read. The NY author begins writing to a bookstore in England in order to find rare secondhand books at a good price. She ends up becoming very fond of the employees, sending them packages of food that are unavailable to them during wartime and staying in touch with the employees and their families for years. It‘s a quick and touching read.

BooksandCoffee4Me I‘ve seen it and after reading your post, I know I need to read this. 2w
Leftcoastzen An all time favorite! 2w

What an absolutely lovely little book! I‘m not crying —YOU‘RE crying.

This collection of letters between an American scriptwriter and the staff of a British bookstore in London restores my faith in humanity and confirms my belief that book people are the best people.

Listen to the audiobook —the narrators are delightful.

Ruthiella This book! It‘s just beautiful. ❤️😢 3w

charl08 Are these the letters that end "down with the Nazis"? (This may be apocryphal! ) 1mo
rubyslippersreads @charl08 I haven‘t heard that, but I look forward to reading the book and finding out. 1mo

A captivating anthology that brings together an extraordinary collection of correspondence from across history, culture, and human experience. Originally stemming from the popular website of the same name, this book compiles letters that are poignant, humorous, enlightening, and sometimes heartbreaking—each offering a unique glimpse into the minds of their writers.

BooksandCoffee4Me Have you read The Only Thing That Counts, the letters between Hemingway and his editor, Maxwell Perkins? These letters share insights into Hemingway -- the real, unheroic, determined, obstinate, fiery, pensive, colliegial Hemingway; of course, the wisdom, almost father-like attention, and expertise of Perkins and discussions regarding F Scott Fitzgerald add to the depth and enjoyment of reading this book. 2mo
Eggs My ‘must-read‘ list is unmanageable 🤪, but…stacked. 2mo
