The Architecture of Happiness
The Architecture of Happiness | Alain de Botton
The Achitecture of Happiness is a dazzling and generously illustrated journey through the philosophy and psychology of architecture and the indelible connection between our identities and our locations. One of the great but often unmentioned causes of both happiness and misery is the quality of our environment: the kinds of walls, chairs, buildings, and streets that surround us. And yet a concern for architecture is too often described as frivolous, even self-indulgent. Alain de Botton starts from the idea that where we are heavily influences who we can be, and argues that it is architecture's task to stand as an eloquent reminder of our full potential. From the Trade Paperback edition.

I finished this audiobook the other day, but as much as I enjoy listening to Simon Vance read to me I‘m sure I would prefer this in print. After I started it my husband said he owns this book and it‘s stored, so I‘m going to find it to look at the images and review some passages. There were some excellent points that I loved while I was listening, but I think reading non-fiction might be better for me and save the fiction for audible. Pick for me

Alain de Botton... you either love his writing and philosophy or you hate him with the power of a thousand suns. I like his approach to life. Yes, it's a bit elitist and sounds sometimes snobbish. But when I need some things to make sense I can count on De Botton to have a theory on it. #startinganewjanuary

Thndrstd I‘m definitely on the love side with his writing 7y
