History nerd that I am, I thought of this short story for #awakemysoul . Famous American orator Daniel Webster is called to the rescue after a farmer sells his soul to the Devil. A battle of words ensue...can Webster save this farmer? I feel I have to re-read this soon...it‘s been forever since I read it in school. #TuneIntoNovember

Mollyanna One of my favorites. I remember the first time I read it, I was actually cheering out load when Webster made a good point. @Cinfhen I am off to stack. Thanks. 7y
Librarybelle Thanks, @Cinfhen ! What a good recommendation! 7y
Librarybelle @Mollyanna I know! And what a good way to remember how much of a force Webster was as an orator. IRL, it must have been fascinating to hear him speak. 7y

Benet's story centers on a New Hampshire farmer who sells his soul to the Devil and is defended by Daniel Webster, a fictional version of the famous statesman, lawyer, and orator. The story appeared in The Saturday Evening Post (October 24, 1936) and was later published in book form by Farrar & Rinehart, 1937. #soulesssaturday #hallowreads
