Princess Margaret: A Life Unravelled | Tim Heald
5 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
The almost universal conception is that the life of Princess Margaret was a tragic failure, a history of unfulfilment. Tim Heald's vivid and elegant biography portrays a woman who was beautiful and sexually alluring and whose reputation for naughtiness co-existed with the glamour. With extraordinary help from those closest to Princess Margaret and unprecedented access to royal archives, Heald asks why one of the most famous and loved little girls in the world, who became a juvenile wartime sweetheart, ended her life wheelchair bound and overlooked. This is a story of a life in which the private and the public seemed permanently in conflict.

My afternoon will be spent pushing on with this after becoming obsessed with Princess Margaret after watching The Crown. This is the first Royal Biography I have ever thought of reading and I must admit i'm getting very bogged down with the names of various people and the list of various Royal engagements. I hope i can get on board with the writing style soon because I find the life of HRH The Princess Margaret so interesting 💕

#LyricalApril #day12 #Royals Even to a rebublican minded Aussie, when you say Royals, it will always be the British monarchy that comes to mind first. I believe that Australia should be a republic, but I'm still fascinated with the Windsors & appreciate that everything the Queen has done has been in service of her country. Did they go about the Diana thing wrong, yes they did. But I don't think it was malicious, just old fashioned thinking.🇬🇧

shawnmooney Princess Margaret!!!! I respect the queen but her younger sister was a deeply fascinating woman! I was about 12 years old when I read my first of several books about her… 😘 8y

#marchintoreading #day3 #recentnonfictionread I'm not a very big reader of non-fiction anymore,my brain feels too stuffed to jam anymore info in there, but I'm trying to pick more up. These are ones I've recently bought & hope to read soon. I have gotten about halfway through Witness To The Revolution & have gotten through about a third of Ghostland. I tend to read non-fiction slower as well, you have to really concentrate to absorb the knowledge.

Reviewsbylola I want to read Ghostland! 8y
