This is a fascinating look at how diplomats and political leaders develop and employ "strategic empathy" to understand the drivers and constraints of their counterparts. It's a history book built on detailed case studies of key interactions in the 20th century: Gandhi and the British, The Weimar Republic and the Bolsheviks, FDR and Stalin with Hitler, the North Vietnamese and the US... I recommend the audiobook -- well worth the time!

This is the book I referenced in my last post -- it is comprised of case studies that reveal how world leaders have used "strategic empathy" to understand opponents and shape responses at pivotal moments of international conflict. This mix of history and behavioral psychology pushes all my nerd buttons! #OxfordUP
