The cover feels really nice. It's textured softly, with eye-catching colours reminiscent of the 60s and 70s. I found this book at Dollarama.

6/10 Different perspective on a coming of age story in the 60's. Maureen is young, poor, and trying to find herself after growing up with an angry bitter mother and jovial drunk for a father. One event sets the stage for her life going forward, and the second is a form of rebirth for her. Definitely not my favourite book, but worth a read anyways.
According to the description, this book is "brilliantly funny". I'm over 100 pages in and I have yet to find any of it funny. I'm enjoying it though.
DNF. Highly anticipated this one - Mary Walsh is Canadian comedic gold. But...I made it to page 32 before putting it away. TRIGGER WARNINGS GALORE FOLKS. Walsh lays. It. On. Heavily. The first 32 pages are filled with shocking physical abuse, pedophiles, rape, sexual assault, drugs, more sexual assault. I wanted to read this one, but I don't have to read it so for now I'll get to the books sent needing reviews. I don't know if I'll return to this
