We are halfway through the book and trying to finish until tomorrow so I can start last month‘s book for #12littens12books - so far it is great, very interesting! I can already recommend it to every lover of japan and to anyone who is interested in learning more about ancient japanese culture as well as its remains today. 😍 #catsoflitsy
I‘ve heard wonderful things about this book and I think it is the perfect preparation for my upcoming journey to Japan in mid July😍 I‘m looking foward to starting it tonight! And so is Yoda😁 #catsoflitsy
@KathyR brought to my attention this passage in the tagged book. It refers to The Tale of #Genji in connection with a folk custom, yobai or night crawling, that‘s hard to imagine as described. What I can‘t picture is creepy men taking no for an answer after they‘ve taken the trouble to creep into a woman‘s bed.

My dear @taza_de_te gave this to me today as a belated christmas present😍 I‘ve read so many good things about this book so I‘m very excited! Plus I‘ve already booked flights to japan for this summer so it‘s the perfect book to read this year😍😍😍
One of the best books I‘ve read this year. For such a short book it somehow combined beautifully simple personal essays, autobiography, cultural history, art theory, theology and meditations on ideas of time and culture - all while being incredibly readable. It‘s very rare for me to want to buy a copy of a book I read from the library but I feel like I should own this one so I can come back to its simple, understated wisdom.
I‘m reading this one far slower than I normally read but there‘s so much in there - I feel like it demands to be read slowly. Fascinating essays. Fitting a few minutes of reading in during lunch
Lunchtime! This book is so good, I really recommend it if you‘re interested in Japan. It reminds me of Names for the Sea about Iceland in terms of the author‘s approach to writing about a country they didn‘t grow up in
I was in the mood for some non fiction but also some escapism so I found a book that I thought could be both! I love learning about japan so much. I‘m trying to take some time this weekend when I‘m sick (tho getting better now 🎉🎉🎉) to educate myself a bit and make sure this isn‘t just wasted time
Use glue.
Don't let anyone tell you that the history of calligraphy is boring
Well, that's one way to pay off your debts, I suppose...
