Even darker than the first, this exploration of inner demons was whip-quick, smart, and scary. Also, the ending made me legitimately sad and I feel like a sucker😂 I may not be mature enough for this Mature Read...

Somewhere between a pick and a so-so for me. I‘m not a fan for grimdark for grimdark‘s sake, and the changes to “Calvin‘s” backstory feel very much this, above and beyond what ‘‘What if Calvin &Hobbes were grown-up and Noir Detectives” demands. That being said, the other nods to the original material elevated it - even Spaceman Spiff (Rocketman Reynolds) and the dinos make an appearance - and also I have to give a lot of bonus points for concept.
I have not yet started my book for January of a reading challenge I‘m doing, so I‘ll be reading this once I‘m done working today for ‘A book featuring cats‘ (shhh, imaginary panthers count too).
Not usually one for the ‘darker, edgier‘ remake, but grown up Calvin &Hobbes becoming Noir Detectives was too much to resist.
