Ooo, another surprise delivery from Book Depository and what a beauty! 💚💙
I‘ve been dying to read more Winifred Holtby after reading (and loving) The Crowded Street this year.
Who‘s the secret sender? 😄

Who‘s the secret sender? 😄
1. The Worst Witch
2. Artful by Ali Smith
3. (This week) Teddy Leigh from tagged book
4. The Princess Bride 😳 I love the film but I find the book intensely irritating and only a fraction as amusing
5. @TobeyTheScavengerMonk @elkeo
A subtle, enraging story about a woman who marries young in spite of her dreams of travel and adventure. She lives hemmed in by a failing farm, a self-absorbed invalid husband and a small-minded rural mentality that is quick to sell scandal when a young Hungarian count takes up lodging on the farm. Deftly, deeply written. #ReadHarderChallenge2018 - A cover you hate and L for #litsyAtoZ
The temerity of green stockings and levity!
Why can't every day be Sunday?
I nearly did not buy this book. I didn't expect to like it, but I did. It is one of those books that makes you laugh, makes you cry and makes you think. It has a wonderful main character and the landscape is integral to the plot. Not an all time favourite, but highly recommended.
