Phineas Finn: The Irish Member: Easyread Large Edition | Anthony Trollope
10 posts | 16 read | 1 reading | 6 to read
Phineas Finn is one of Trollope's most enchanting novels. It revolves around a young Irishman, Phineas Finn, who becomes a member of Parliament and plays an important role in the political reforms of the mid-19th century. The author portrays Finn's views and emotions as a politician as well as his relationships with three different women.

#justcuz #Trollopeing #BandofTrollopes This is from the Palliser series , our group is reading the Barsetshire series , but so cute I wanted to share this Oxford World‘s Classics Edition from the early sixties.
Been in the stash for awhile, need to finish the other series first! Next to a Galaxy 23 just for size, I miss my iPhone. Actually doing this post on it . It has no phone number now, still a mini computer! 😁

batsy It's a lovely edition 😍 1y
LeahBergen I‘ve always liked these little Oxford editions! They were some of the first editions I bought when I started buying “classics” in my teens and early twenties. 🥰 1y
Leftcoastzen @LeahBergen they do have a certain something about them ! 1y
Leftcoastzen @batsy thanks a! Little cute hardcover book. 1y

Pickpick

This book deals with both British parliamentary politics of the 1860s and with Phineas Finn's romances with women. The political parts were killing me in the end (Too much and too difficult or boring for me to understand what all the fuss was about), but I loved the romance parts. Trollope‘s female characters are so strong and independent, I‘d like most of them as my friends! 👇👇

BarbaraBB When I make up the balance though, I think the women couldn‘t make up for the men and I am taking a break from Trollope‘s Palliser series for now. 6y
batsy I need to read Trollope! His books always sound like it would be just my thing. And I love this picture 💜 6y

Somehow no matter how many books I move to my "read" shelf, the TBR gets longer and longer. My favorites from 2016 were Do Not Say We Have Nothing, State of Wonder, The Witches, The Rain in Portugal, and A Celibate Season.

It's a long haul of a read. If you like Victorian lit about parliament, here ya go. But Phineas is a jerk. It's just a fact.
