The four poetry books are the next four - that‘ll get me to 130 books - and then onto the rest! I‘m determined to get there, and considering I‘ve read seven books of poetry already today, I think I can power through four more before I go to sleep!
so-soI really wanted to connect with this poetry book, but I struggled with it. The poems didn't feel connected even if I appreciated the narrative arc. I might just not be the target audience for this. However, some poems here were really special and I appreciated their honesty.
pickI had to sit with this for a few days. This is a collection made up of not only beautiful words but also well-thought out form and rhythm. And rather than a screed, these poems feel very intimate. They are about loss, grief, losing a grandparent to dementia, a failing relationship.
I needed an "emergency book" and somebody furry decided he wanted in the picture.
This is my "I'm going to try really hard to not buy any books this year," book haul part 1. I'm expecting another package tomorrow. I'm trying to figure out why I feel ashamed of this? My bills are paid and I have groceries. The little monster is well taken care of. NO SHAME BOOK HAUL.
