Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy meets X-Men in a classic British espionage story. A young woman must go undercover and use her superpowers to discover a secret Nazi plat and stop an invasion of England. In 1936, there are paranormal abilities that have slowly seeped into the world, brought to the surface by the suffering of the Great War. The research to weaponize these abilities in England has lagged behind Germany, but now its underway at an ultra-secret site called Monkton Hall. Kim Tavistock, a woman with the talent of the spilldrawing out truths that people most wish to hideis among the test subjects at the facility. When she wins the confidence of caseworker Owen Cherwell, she is recruited to a mission to expose the head of Monkton Hallwho is believed to be a German spy. As she infiltrates the upper-crust circles of some of Englands fascist sympathizers, she encounters dangerous opponents, including the charismatic Nazi officer Erich von Ritter, and discovers a plan to invade England. No one believes an invasion of the island nation is possible, not Whitehall, not even Englands Secret Intelligence Service. Unfortunately, they are wrong, and only one woman, without connections or training, wielding her talent of the spill and her gift for espionage, can stop it.

I really liked this, even though it‘s not my usual cup of tea! I really liked the tone and how the author balanced what I knew and what the characters knew. It also has the best name for a wool shop! The Dropped Stitch!

This looks so awesome I'm tempted to jump right in. The blurb mentions Agent Carter, but wow that cover clinches it.

Alternate history set just prior to WWII with a dash of the paranormal. A "bloom" of talents occurred after WWI and the Nazis spotted military potential in the bloom. This was a fun read with solid intrigue and interesting characters. It is a bit of a slow burn, but it felt right for the story. I eagerly await the second instalment in 2018. Highly recommended. @Pruzy I really enjoyed this - hope you do , too ?

This book waited patiently for me to finish a bunch of "mandatory" reading before I could get back to it. I've powered through 200 pages today and am LOVING it!
