This book was about grief. Losing a child and it‘s affect on a family runs parallel to the loss of bees from the environment. It‘s a stunning book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌛from me.

We always hear about the Pacific garbage patch but there is plastic throughout the oceans, not just on the surface. This book is about what would happen to the world if humans disappeared. Unfortunately, some of the damage we‘ve done is irreversible. Plastics and some chemicals will plague the earth forever. It is a sobering and depressing read.

I have NOT been having a good reading time lately. Officially in #readingslump . I picked this up on a whim, in the hope it would crack it for me. And if nothing else, #thatcover

I finished this ones ages ago and must have forgotten to post my review. I think the best description of my feelings on this one is mhew. I didn't love it, didn't hate it. Parts were quite predictable and the characters didn't really seem it grow.

Started this, my latest audiobook, on the walk to the station this morning. I was going take a photo on my walk but it was before the sun was up and oh so cold.

This book held so much promise but there just wasn't enough development of character or setting. Evangeline, a pivotal character, the mother and the source of all the mystery, was two dimensional at best. I felt like I didn't know her at all by the end of the novel. Aspects of the story were glanced over in barest detail leaving me puzzled and there were few answers offered in the finish. Quite dissatisfying.

I cleaned the house yesterday. Half an hour the kids got home from school I wondered why I bothered. But at least I had something interesting to listen to. Bees, hippy communes and family tragedy, ticking a lot of boxes for me.

Got an early birthday present of money and a coupon to Indigo (I also had one) from my mom so these are the goodies I bought tonight.

I really wanted to love this but this book is living proof of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I had no problems with the prose. However, where on earth are the speech marks? It was rather infuriating and it really detracted from the reading experience. My other issue lay with the characters. I didn't connect with any of them which is such a shame because there was so much potential. All in all, a disappointing read.

The Muller family are a family in mourning, for the daughter, the sister they have . A beautiful, evocative novel with characters depicted with care and attention, evoking empathy and sympathy with the reader. Stunning.

Still not 100% sure about this. It's a slow read that takes its time to get going & even then it doesn't go far. Character driven, I still agree with my comment of "I've almost finished this & I don't understand Evie any better. Equal parts perfect/annoying." 5 months later that still stands.

The concept & themes of this book were interesting to me, but it fell a little flat. The characters lacked depth and the story felt contrived. The themes of environmental destruction & grief could have been explored more deeply.
