Moulin Rouge
Moulin Rouge: A Novel Based on the Life of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec | Pierre La Mure
5 posts | 1 read
Henri de Toulouse-Latrec experienced a life of deformity and disappointment. He left an artistic legacy beyond praise or price. Though his friends were the great personages of his time, he was perpetually lonely. Though educated and witty his life was a continual and desperate search for romantic love and happiness.

Lynnsoprano I didn‘t actually own it, as it was my parents‘ car (mostly my mom‘s), but I learned to drive in an original Mustang. Okay, that dates me😂 6y
Kaye My dark green Toyota Camry that finally kicked the bucket at over 200,000 miles. Best car I‘ve ever had. I like anything with wheels though. As long as it runs and takes me where I need to go, I like it. 6y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @Lynnsoprano Oh those early Mustangs were so sweet. My cousin had a reconditioned Mustang when we were teenagers in the late 70s early 80s. I was super jealous!! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Kaye A car that‘s consistent and reliable is important. You really kept that Camry going to for a LOT of miles! 6y

#BackPackEurope had a chance to watch the film Moulin Rouge👯‍♀️👯‍♀️#AvignonFestival 🇫🇷 mixed feelings ~ Visually it was incredible and I LOVED the musical mashups of all different musical genres & decades set to the backdrop of 1890s Paris BUT the storyline was painful. Nicole Kidman & Ewan McGregor were pretty steamy 💕🙌🏻 Nice diversion before I get on a plane tonight

mabell Great collage! 6y
saresmoore I think I watched this and listened to the soundtrack hundreds of times as a teen. MAJOR Ewan crush. 6y
Cathythoughts Fab collage 💫 6y

CarolynM I completely adored Richard Roxburgh chewing the scenery as the Duke (I adore him doing anything) but apart from that ... ugh!! 6y

I wasn't brave enough yet to remove the brown book cover.. but I did find this 4th edition printing pic on EBay so now I have an idea what's underneath. 😊 Good suggestion @rubyslippersreads . My copy is a third printing so I figured it has to be close.

It's pretty neat and I'm tempted to remove the cover. But I'm still feeling sentimental over it bc the former owner clearly put some time into personalizing it.

BookishBeth Ooh. Keep the paper on. The paper makes the book friendlier looking. 7y

🤔Need your thoughts on this, Littens:

I found this copy of a 1950 edition of Moulin Rouge wrapped in brown paper w these stickers on it. I'm dying to see the blue cloth vintage spine... but... it's neat the way it is. Remove or let it be? (Isn't the card neat? It also has a moulin rouge sticker on it)

Simona Maybe you shouldn't listen to me, but I'm too much curious - remove it ... 😈👼 7y
rubyslippersreads Maybe you can find a picture of the original online, to help you decide if what's underneath is better than the (very cool) paper cover. 7y
BookishBeth Is there a way you can neatly slip the paper off and maybe retape after you snoop? The paper gives it character and makes you wonder who made a text book-like slip cover for it! 7y

swishandflick I'm dying of curiosity - mostly wondering why they never opened their birthday gift! 7y
LeahBergen Try to take a peek but keep the wrapping on it for your shelves! 😍 7y
LeahBergen Wait ... is it a handmade paper cover or actually an unopened gift? 7y
avalinah It looks so good!! 7y
Jess_Read_This @LeahBergen @swishandflick It's a handmade book cover! Which I haven't seen in a very long time. Usually that's a school book thing but last time I covered a book was around 1989... lol. 7y
Jess_Read_This @BookishBeth I'm thinking maybe if I gently cut a fold and slip it out that might be the trick! Good thinking! 7y
