This is a great fictionalised version of the last hundred days of Nicolae Ceacescu‘s corrupt and despotic regime in Romania in 1989. I must admit it has been a bit surreal reading it whilst watching the chaotic end to the Trump administration unfold in the US. They were each from different ends of the political spectrum but the similarities and damage they‘ve caused are eerily similar. Interesting reading.

Texreader Probably Lonesome Dove I finally read last year. I had it since 1986. And I loved it. 6y

Soubhiville Mine was Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence, and it was given to me by an ex. When I finally did try to read it, I bailed and donated it. 6y

BookNAround @TrishB I keep an excel list in the order I buy the tbr so the two oldest on the list are The Wings of the Dove by Henry James and Stories of the Old South edited by Ben Forkner and Patrick Samway. Usually I try to read at least one impossibly old tbr a year so eventually I‘ll move onto books I‘ve had since college instead of high school. 😂 6y
