I am loving this series!!! I am making my way through this series at a decent pace. I loved the characters. Can't wait to get into the next book. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

For various reasons both positive and negative I‘ve put a good dent in my reading goals for the year so far. I finished ten books in February, with the tagged one being my favorite. With the eight that I read in January, things are off to a good start. #wrapup

I found this on cloudLibrary and figured I‘d finally read it as part of #serieslove2024 even though I‘d previously jumped into the middle of the series. It was an interesting story that could also stand alone. Holmes isn‘t one of my favorites, but he‘s tolerable and resourceful as he navigates Mary‘s travails in San Francisco. Guest appearance by Dashiell Hammett.

Books with ➡️ are deferred for now for various reasons. Not sure what‘s up next.

Susanita My book club read this a few years ago. It‘s chronologically before the tagged book (maybe?) but after it in series order. (edited) 10mo

It's a really hard sell to say the 8th book in a series that has been ongoing for over a decade at that point is a game-changer, but OH BOY IS IT EVER. This installment of the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes mysteries is the best I've read so far and it's going to take me ages to get over it. I cannot express how much I loved this novel, but here we are. 110% recommend to anyone.

This is probably one of my favourites from the Mary Russell series, it was so great to see more of Mary's past. Luna looks a little shocked maybe mysteries are not her genre 😹

Since Sherlock Holmes plays violin I'm counting this as my book featuring a musician for #booked2019

Cinfhen Not sure how I missed this post!! Hmmmm.... Sherlock Holmes, musician 🧐why not!?!??! 😂😂 6y
StephanieMarie @Cinfhen my thoughts exactly 😂 although I'm now reading a book with multiple musician characters that might fit a bit better 6y
Cinfhen That happens for me too...it‘s all fun...as long as we‘re reading and enjoying it doesn‘t really matter 6y

One has to ask, why is it always April? Found this photo in an Atlas Obscura story about a batch of San Francisco earthquake photos going up for auction. No book has ever given me as enduring a sense of that disaster as King‘s mystery novel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love when this author throws in some relevant historical figures. One of the last books had Lawrence of Arabia and this one has Dashiell Hammett!

So Locked Rooms is the next book in the series, book 8 and on page 4 they mention “the events that happen in Japan.” Those events are told in Dreaming Spies, book 14.
What do you do ? Wait and read in order ???????
