For the record, the bread in this photo was not made using a recipe from this book, but I couldn‘t resist the serendipity!

I‘m glad I finally got around to reading this, since it‘s such a seminal and oft-cited book in the world of artisan baking, but I‘m not enthusiastic about it. I feel like the online recipes I started with and my own experience have gotten me past the Forkish method and into better (less wasteful!) ones.

Tagged book was my birthday present (February) this year from NOS and DIL (as of June). Saturday (almost exactly six months later), Number One Son and I made The Saturday White Bread when we visited them. I was thrilled at how easy it was (having only used a bread machine previously). That NOS is a clever one! Now I have the confidence to try more of the recipes.

I've made two recipes from this book so far and am loving it. Forkish helps you understand how to manipulate time and temperature to get the results you want, bake on the schedule you like, and develop your own recipes. Most importantly, the breads are turning out fantastic.
