Alfonzo215 I've read Edgar Rice Burroughs but never this book. I've read his "Tarzan" books. I live in USA. Can you recommend a good book from India? I just finished reading "Sycamore Row" by John Grisham. He's an attorney/author that writes legal fiction. I think his best novel was his first book "A Time to Kill". Hollywood made a movie from the book. (edited) 6y
Suchethaaahh I have read Tarzan books as well, good time pass. I like the imagination of Mr.Rice. Plenty creativity in the one posted as well. 6y
Suchethaaahh Would recommend "White Tiger" from Aravind Adiga, please share your thoughts on how you liked the book if you get a chance to read it. 6y
Alfonzo215 Great! Thank you for the recommendation. I will definitely post an opinion if I read it. 6y
Tkgbjenn1 Grew up reading his Tarzan novels. 5y

Mehso-so

Ehh. Like much early sci-fi, it is unintentionally hilarious based on our knowledge today. It is also disheartening because the author's imagination doesn't extend to making a society where women actually have autonomy 🙄

tournevis I love Bouroughs. He's amazing and so very reflective of the period. He was such a racist and the casual sexism was quite something, even if he was much less so than a lot of other writers of the time. Barsoom had very strong independant women considering. 6y
rabbitprincess @tournevis I'll have to read Barsoom then! 6y
tournevis @rabbitprincess The Mars books. The first is tagged. 6y
rabbitprincess @tournevis Oh good, that one is on my to-read list on Serial Reader! I shall have to get to it sooner rather than later. 6y
