This was actually a re-read for me. This time round I listened to the audio and thoroughly enjoyed. I just love the narrator for this book.
Witches, dragons, mystical creatures and those with magic have to hide for fear of being discovered and put under trial for witchcraft.
I'm already onto book 2.

I read this series quite a while ago and thought I'd give the audiobook a go.

I'm just loving the narration by Elle Newlands. The accent and cadence of the narration completely transports me into this magical world with witches and dragons.

When I was 13/14, the height of hormonal time, I stumbled upon a sex scene. This series is really really good and it opened me to the world of books with romance. I went to my local library and started borrowing the max number of books allowed and it was all romance.

I read a lot of trashy and trash books but I consumed all of it.

Didn‘t work this morning so I got to go to the local Saturday market, and I picked up these cute bookmarks from a local fantasy artist!

Partway through. All the characters speak in Scottish brogue; I tried to hear them that way in my head initially but it really slowed me down.

The story is dragging a bit for me. Some of the details don't ring true eg when Meghan's valley is attacked, she calls animals to her defence and they are slaughtered mercilessly but later she refuses to wear furs to keep warm because they came from animals that were killed.

SqueakyChu I don‘t care to read books in which spoken language is in dialect. I find that annoying. However, in Trainspotting, I got used to it pretty quickly. I did have to use a glossary for that book, though. 7y
