

It's like zen but the asshole view. It was published in 1990 and has all of the "tough love", "I'm just being honest", self-improvement on cocaine attitude you might expect. There‘s lots of content that hasn‘t aged well (a couple of slurs, lots of ableism) and way too many stories, quips, and parables. I agree with de Mello‘s overall message of not being dependent on people or things for happiness, but this isn‘t the book that‘ll get you there.
