In the end, I recommend it. It does a good job talking about Anne‘s time in France which is rarely discussed. It also gives me a new view on royal mistresses and the roles their families and politics play. Although fiction, definitely a good story that gives the reader a break from the sadness of Anne‘s end.

Reading about Anne going crazy pretending she was madly in love with François reminds me of all the times in the past, guys would dump me for being too clingy. Was I too clingy, yeah probably, but at least I don‘t have any stalkers.

I have to wonder if Thomas knew Francis (François) was making Mary sleep with other men/women would he have defended Mary and/or gotten her out of court? And then I think hell, if Francis wanted Mary to sleep with Thomas, Thomas would oblige and sleep with his own daughter if it meant gathering intelligence or gaining a better position.

Anne Boleyn- it‘s ironic that Anne‘s description of her sister describes what I‘ve read on Jane Seymour‘s personality. It makes me wonder would Jane have just been another mistress if Anne would‘ve kept her mouth shut?

I think what is probably the most disturbing part of Thomas Boleyn‘s task for Mary is the fact that he saw his daughter as attractive enough himself. As Thomas talks to Mary you can tell he is abnormally aware of his daughter‘s beauty. To even come up with this type of idea, there had to be at least a small lustful feeling he had for his daughter.

The irony of the conversation on playing cards between Marguerite and Anne is Katherine of Aragon ends up being the inspiration for at least the queen of hearts if not all the queen cards instead of Anne Boleyn.
