Conclusion of a 2 part-er within this long Mary Russell / Sherlock Holmes series. It must have been good cos I stayed up until 3am to finish it and I really try not to do that too often!! I love the historical detail in this series and Mary is a fabulous character. No 10 in the series. #CrimeReads #CosyCrime #CrimeFiction #Sherlock #HistoricalCrime #SherlockHolmes #MaryRussell #DetectiveNovel
Well this was good. Really satisfyingly disconcerting and complicated. I liked it a lot. And I continue to like this series a lot as long as I don‘t think about that age gap…
Finished one, straight on to the next…
This is a continuation of the previous book - The Language of Bees so it picks up right after that. It is started off quite fast paced with a few more new characters added in to give additional colour to the story. I found that the middle of it meandered a little but all in all, it wrapped up pretty well.
Tore through this after reading the first one and didn‘t find it as coherent or final-feeling as its first half. Exciting and definitely some great scenes and character studies but overall plot fell apart for me..boo, I love this series!
Setting took a strange turn into Lake District and a robin goodfellow character, hence my British seasonal produce dish towel and Van gogh fruit tree branch print...
Books 9 and 10 in the Mary Russell series. ? The Language of Bees ends with a "to be continued..." (er, hopefully that's not considered a spoiler?) so naturally I felt I should keep going to the next! LoB wasn't my favorite, but The God of the Hive really has me hooked. Tonight I'm going read and hopefully turn in early bc Long Week. ???

"I had little choice but to shoot him. And to my irritation, he was inconsiderate enough to die before he could tell me who had sent him."
Ha! Love it!
