This book went right over my head. Some chapters i understood and other ones were all over the place. Unfortunately at the end of the book my first thought was what was the point of this story? I so bad wanted to love this story. 😒
I fell in love with this cover! Im excited to start it. The set up of this book is totally different than anything i have read!
Spotted in a storefront on my walk for coffee this morning. Love my city #Chicago
I love how this author use a popular Mexican game to introduce his chapters. I enjoyed this story even when it was sad.
Vacation day #3, book #3. Not a hit so far, (despite the amazing aesthetics of this book - thick, heavy pages and cool illustrations). Started this beautiful book last night. Perfect to go with my Trader Joe's chocolate passort! Anyone read this one? I haven't had good luck with Iowa Writers Workshop authors (no offense intended!)

NOT a good choice if you're already stressed...it's about a girl who uses lotería cards to tell the story of her abusive family. It is a painful read...had I known just how tough it was going to be, I might have put it off for later, but I had to know what happened. Zambrano told the story in such a deft manner, I'm giving it a 🤘
When you choose a book because you like the title and cover and that it is inspired by a game you played as a kid 🤓
