This is quite good. It's journal entries. Does that make it epistolary? Or is that just for letters? 💖📚

I‘m continuing to enjoy this series about an imaginary royal family hailing from the invented kingdom of Montmaray. This one takes place on the brink of WWII, as Sophie chronicles her siblings‘ (& her own) attempts to take their island back from the Germans. I have to say, despite her insistence that she‘s not getting married & that she‘s not interested in Rupert... I wish there were more romance & that she WERE marrying him! #badfeminist
“I wondered... whether dreams were like a vandal rampaging through a library of memories, tearing out random pages and turning them into paper boats...”
When I bought this beautiful metal bookmark (crafted in my own little city & based on vintage designs from the 20‘s - 50‘s), the shop owner asked if I wanted to purchase a tassel for an additional cost. I thought they were all a little tacky. What do you think? Should I leave it plain or give it some flair? If the latter, what kind? 🤔🥀🌹
“Luckily, the notion of a chauffeur named Parker helped divert me from any foolish speculation about where Simon was going, or how long he might be away.”
I mean, I‘d still prefer budding trees & birdsong... but I ain‘t mad. Not bad for a Tuesday. #snowday #inlikealion
It took me a few pages to get back into this story, but the characters are so well drawn and three dimensional, that it was a pleasure. This series takes real moments in history and gives them a truly unique perspective. #litsyatoz #c
Snap! I'm sure I've seen another book cover using this same photo too but it's slipped my mind. I already knew about the Tessaro and the Thynne but discovered this one after Fitzosbornes in Exile was recommended to me and I went off to find it on Amazon!
Still, with 3 covers at least this girl, her dress and her enigmatic look are already super popular!
Not as good as book one but still really enjoyable. A story of a family in decline trying to brace up for the war.
