This one ... owes a lot to operatic doubling. Top flight suspense & the story is all kinds of (again, operatic) crazy, & the characters? are easy to get attached to (farthest I'll go sans spoilers). I came to this through the Passager miniseries, which is to die for (will read next). Not sure I want to watch the movie having read Karim's not in it, nor can I vouch for translations, but I can certainly rec this one to fans of police thrillers 🔥

When you are reading a book set in a region you know well and realise the author had not set foot there! There is no way to see Switzerland from annecy except if you see through mountains ;)
