pickThis was a fascinating read! I knew nothing about Madame C.J. Walker before reading this and now I want to fall down the rabbit hole and learn as much as I can about this amazing woman. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories of women who push ahead, regardless of the obstacles ahead - she never gave up! A true testament to what hard work, determination and grit can achieve 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Today‘s author spotlight: Tananarive Due! The 53-year-old is a Tallahassee, Florida, native. Her mother named her after the French name of Madagascar‘s capital, Antananarivo. She has a B.S. in journalism and an M.A. in English Literature. She worked at the Miami Herald when she wrote her first novel. She currently resides in Los Angles with her husband and their son. pickOne of the many reasons I love historical fiction is that it allows me to learn more about a topic I'm interested in without being overcome with dates and figures. This is a great great story of Madam C.J. Walker's life. A true American rags-to-riches tale, it also happens to be about the country's first black female millionaire who didn't just enhance her own life but strove to enrich the lives of thousands of black women of her era.
