The 2nd Enola Holmes book.

In this, the daughter of a baron goes missing, and since it‘s believed that she has run off with a beau below her social standing, this is kept secret. Enola comes across this case and decides to investigate.

Really enjoyed this Enola Holmes mystery (Enola = Alone, and she does work alone so as not to alert her brothers).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
These are clever little mysteries. I liked the first one more than this, but I still enjoyed this one. Looking forward to the second Netflix film.

I enjoyed this more than the first one, that I finished right before. Enola takes a case and deals with loneliness. I like that it's not only a big adventure for her, and I like how Sherlock and Watson are portrayed. What I didn't like, though, was the solution of how the crime was done. While it was fitting for Victorian or Gothic Literature, I had expected something else. There was an excerpt for the next book that sounded really promising.

Another enjoyable adventure with the very capable #EnolaHolmes as she continues to use her considerable talents to outwit her older brothers and build an independent life for herself. Narrator #KatherineKellgren does an excellent job, as always.

This was a great deal of fun—a light adventure that I tore through in an hour of bingeing.

My first and last reads of 2020 were both about lonely young ladies, but they were completely different characters:
- sci-fi vs. historical fiction
- flightly vs. serious
- works well with others vs. works independently
- trapped vs. on-the-run

Tagged my favorite of the two.

Finished this #audiobook during the last morning in 2020. Even had to shush my mom because she was talking during the last 5 minutes. 😳🙊 This book focuses more on character building than the mystery plot. One of my favorite literary themes is loneliness, and it's featured heavily here. This reader appreciated it. 💙🥲 #dw2020reads

These little novellas are darling and still keep me on my toes. This young sister of Sherlock Holmes keeps her mother's trust and continues to fulfill her promise of being a great detective. This adventure focuses her efforts on saving a missing heiress who has mysteriously disappeared.

RamsFan1963 I've been listening to these on audio from Libby, they are a lot of fun and Enola is definitely a Holmes in intelligence and perseverance. 4y

Another fun Enola Holmes adventure. I got quite a laugh out of the cat & mouse game between Sherlock and Enola, as he tried to catch her with disguises and forged messages, and she proved his equal escaping his machinations. The mystery was a bit slight, but the relationship between the Holmes siblings and the wonderfully described 19th century London kept me very entertained. 4 🔎🔎🔎🔎

I love the series so much. It's fun, imaginative, feminist. It is so interesting to see Sherlock and Mycroft (and Watson) through the eyes of this clever and independent 14-year-old girl. The writing is effective at making the reader feel for Enola in her loneliness and abandonment. I'll read the third one next.

Sarah83 I would like to read it too, but you don't get this in Germany. 😓 8y
