A nice fast-paced book. I bought this just because the cover looked rad to me and the name sounded interesting. The illustrations were really nice.

I read this with my 7 year old. The language is so rich. It was beautifully written. We really enjoyed it@and were pleased with how things turned out in the end 😊
Varjak Paw 🐾 is different from his other Mesopotamia Blue siblings. They might look down on him, but it is up to him to save them if he can learn the ancient ways of his ancestor, Jalal.
Great story 😻 with black ink drawings by Dave McKean.

Thank you so much @jessinikkip for your wonderful, thoughtful gifts! Did you make the lovely knit snowflakes? They are so cute and I can‘t wait to use the lovely bath items! And I‘m so exited to try these books and the yummy almonds, and it‘s all so wonderful! Thank you! And the cards are PERFECT! I love stationary.
#OctoberXFiles Day 31: Accdg to Fats‘ review: “Varjak Paw, which won the gold medal during the 2003 Nestle Smarties Book Prize, had me rooting for Varjak from the start. I felt my blood boil every time his family looks down on him and rejects his opinion. My heart sank when Elder Paw was locked in combat with Varjak‘s father. I cheered when Varjak made it Outside in search of the ‘monsters.‘” #CallingAllTheMonsters indeed. https://wp.me/pDlzr-6A2
