pickI disliked the first 100 pages of this novel and would‘ve bailed if its sequel (Either/Or) had not been chosen for #CampLitsy. However Batuman‘s *very* dry humor grew on me, and I loved the last 300 pages. I even laughed a few times. Selin is interesting.
Not much plot. Virtually 💯 a character study. You follow Selin through her freshman year at Harvard and a summer abroad in Hungary. She has a complicated relationship with a senior, Ivan.
Megabooks We didn‘t fertilizer the Mona Lisa lilies in time plus we‘ve dug them up twice since last summer, so they‘re small but still beautiful! 2y

Hooked_on_books I loved this book. It sat in my shelf for quite a while before I read it, so I had some kind of resistance to it, but it really won me over. I do see why it wouldn‘t work for everyone, though. I think you‘ll like the next one if you like Selin‘s voice. 2y
