PHEW. All done! My first #24in48 was a success! Thanks @24in48 for organizing. Somehow this weekend was exhausting and relaxing at the same time. Now, off to play some video games.
Fun, quick little romance as I get close to hour 22! I think I'll end up finishing it out with A Series of Unfortunate Events audiobooks. My eyes are beginning to fail me! #24in48
For my second #24in48, I decided a quick poetry romp would be nice. I wasn't super into the first two thirds of Milk and Honey, but the last section really won me over
Any book that promises a loving view of Fandom immediately goes onto my TBR list. Not only did this book not disappoint, it utilized an unconventional format (blog posts, private messages, text messages, etc.) to deepen understanding of the two main characters. Very quick and enjoyable read that did NOT go in the direction I was expecting.
This book was breathtaking. The way that the author paints the picture of how a community should respond to a rape while still believably portraying the main character's thoughts and feelings is fantastic. This was also LITERALLY the first time I've ever read a YA novel that included the MC getting an abortion, and it was shown as just another choice she had to make following the disaster. I loved this book.
I've seen too many #24in48 #readathon sessions go by without taking part. I'm in!
I heard about this book through some @bookriot show or another (I consume so much of their content that it's hard to keep things straight!). I was promised a compelling story that I couldn't put down and I was NOT disappointed. The thriller aspect mixed with my high school band nostalgia made for a perfect way to end the year.
Mara Wilson is my hero. I have a deep love of memoir, and this collection of essays gives me everything I long for. This book was funny, smart, and endlessly relatable. Read it immediately.
I listened to this debut novel on audio last year, and so many months later I keep finding myself thinking about how great it is. Morbid, hilarious, and just surreal enough to keep me enthralled. I read it just after reading Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (by library hold list fate) and they complement each other splendidly. #booktober
I'm not generally the best at keeping track of bookmarks, but I was so excited when I got this from Powell's this summer that I've held on tight! #booktober
A quick, fun read told from the perspective of a young professional who has no idea what to do with his life but thinks that books are pretty swell. After getting a job at a quirky bookstore, he is suddenly sucked into a world that pits books against the Internet (and questions whether that's at all necessary).
Some characters were so fantastic and some were a bit grating. This book won't change your life, but it's definitely worth a read.
I can't find any books on my actual shelves that have text only covers, so throwback to a book I loved reading a few months ago. #booktober
A world I'm happy to be a part of.
"O autumn! O teakettle! O grace!" Merry October, y'all!
When things are literally life or death and we're running out of time, who do we actually believe is worth saving? This is a consuming book that somehow manages to tackle ableism, racism, prejudice against transgender people and the chronically addicted while weaving in an accepted idea of religious tolerance. Just pick it up immediately.
Not quite halfway through this yet, but I'm not sure I've ever seen inclusive done quite as well as this. So in love.
