A Saturday night well spent ....
The Dollhouse is a fun read in the best way. Set in the Barbizon hotel, the story alternates in time between the early 1950s and the present day. At the heart of this story Is mystery. This story is also a love-letter to old New York City, jazz and a bygone era filled with style and glamour, yet it also acknowledges a seamier side to this history that I never knew about. When you are craving a date-night at home with a book – this is the one.
For me, Amor Towles‘ Gentleman in Moscow is the quintessential fall read. It‘s perfection. This novel begs for a long weekend afternoon – treasured hours spent by the fire and an excellent book and a cup of tea are the most welcome company.
