Finding it hard to make myself read recently but a friend of mine bought this as a gift for starting my masters degree on Monday and it's really good! I was mostly attracted to it because of the cover but de Botton also manages to have a pleasant conversational tone that I have seen pulled off with this much success before. Definitely recommend! Maybe it's time to take a break from fiction for a bit.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to check out her other works. It's short (90 pages), concise, and frighteningly relevant to how I was feeling when I read it. She talks about how apathy is a dangerous emotion, how anxiety is contagious, and how we live in an information saturated world that could be doing more harm than good. Plus it uses some contemporary events for examples. It's 100% worth checking out and I'll read this again.

Love love love loved it 🥰. I have a super soft spot for Greek mythology and omg this was so good. I finished it within two days which is super rare for me. The characters were good. Paragraphs weren't dragged out and although the order was a bit off in order to keep them short and sweet it was a highly readable book. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of the widely loved Song of Achilles and Circe!

She's been my favourite author ever since my primary school offered us a free book in 2002 and I chose Journey to the River Sea. My dream is to one day own a copy of every book of hers. If you like romance, strong women, or adventure I definitely recommend giving her books a try!

Definitely embarrassed to say that I've been reading this book for probably over two months by now. Life keeps getting in the way and of course I forgot to take it on holiday with me over Christmas and New Year so I had a panic at the airport and bought The Familiars, which I have very mixed feelings about. So far I love Circe though, Madeline Miller is definitely one of my favourite authors and this book isn't falling short of my expectations.

I pre-ordered it after reading This Is Going To Hurt last month and completely forgot about it until it arrived through the door this morning. No-one I know has read it and it's so sad! I'm really hoping this follow up is going to be as funny as TIGTH!

Definitely not my usual kind of book but surprisingly I'm rather enjoying it! There are a lot of comparisons to other supernatural fiction books but somehow it's giving me Queen of the Tearling vibes.

It's also raining and cold outside so homemade shortbread and some afternoon tea is just what's needed before a performance of Mozart's Requiem this evening. 🥰🌿

My September reading thus far! All The Light We Cannot See is worth a read, and This Is Going To Hurt was the biggest surprise of this year. I've seen a lot about this book, especially since the author was performing at the Edinburgh Fringe and it was painfully funny. Still not sure how I feel about Little. Despite very good reviews none of the characters or the writing style have clicked with me, but I'll finish it anyway.
