The book has been around for nearly 20 years, but I only got around to reading it recently. Having some indigenous roots in Mexico, I was curious about this “Toltec wisdom.” There is a lot of profundity in the simple agreements; they‘re not always easy to follow, but good reminders. Worth the quick read to help recenter your mind.

A superb debut novel, in my opinion. Orange encapsulates modern Natives in ways that are salient, and in some that others may criticize as stereotypical. The style and narratives are unique, and he incorporates devices that are simple to read, but often complex to connect and navigate as his characters converge for the climax.
