1. Oz - not so much the first book, but the entire complex series. Fun!
2. Who cares? It's the story that counts. Paperbacks fit better on a shelf, though.
3. Fantasy, definitely. True crime is too likely to be creepy.
4. Bleah. One form of caramel-colored fizzy water or another. Root beer or birch beer - and craft brewed, at that.
5. @a.bookish.byrd (oh, drat, not right. I'll add it to a comment).

Neat questions, @JenlovesJT47 ! #THISORTHAT

And the next book - this leads on, pretty quickly, from the end of Alien Taste. A lot more about Ukiah's history - more even than Rennie and the Pack knew. Crossing Hex again...And a new technique in the old battle. This should make a difference, over time. Again, a multiple reread.

Reread, for about the sixth time. I do love Ukiah - he's great in himself, and what we slowly find out about him and his history is rather amazing. It was a little odd, this time, at the very beginning, when Ukiah is wondering about himself and I know (some of) the answers...

Serious conceptual jump - sorting tween books for the library book sale.

Just as good as Mindtouch. Our understanding of the characters, and their understanding of each other, deepens; more info on the way this universe works, too. Love it.

Fantastic. I love the universe (lots of history we see only scraps of) and I adore the characters. Jahir is great, but I really identify with Vasith't. And lovely to see a non-sexual, strong relationship.

Cute fluff - I'm starting to like Emma and Eadric again, after getting very bored with them in the last couple books. I think her spell on Bradston was a very bad idea, and will come back to bite her - but oh, so satisfying. Next, please!

Eh. Not for me - humor that's about putting yourself down is neither funny nor interesting, as far as I'm concerned. She takes interesting subjects and makes jokes about them, rather than really explaining them. I'll try at least one more of her books (this wasn't my first), but I'm not expecting to love any of hers.

Press Start to Play | Daniel H. Wilson, John Joseph Adams

Not wonderful so far - most of the stories are making me go "What?!" at the end. And some of them are pure nasty. There are a few I've enjoyed, but not a lot - and the Seanan McGuire I got the book for is one I've read before (probably on her website). It's good, and fun, but not something new from her.

Love it, as always - I've read both the original mass market version and the edited TPB from Meisha Merlin, half a dozen times apiece. And I still find things I've forgotten or never noticed. _The_ most perfect culture clash novel - a good half-dozen cultures and everything from accidental insults to nearly genocide because "they aren't people". I love Maggie, and Tocohl. The language(s) are fantastic. Worth reading for everyone!

Not bad. Wide assortment of stories, from naively hopeful to bitterly pessimistic. The two I liked best were by authors I already knew; Lee & Miller's made me want to see more in that universe, Seanan McGuire's made me mad - no fair, who put them in charge? And the confusion quotient. Hmph. Both, along with several others, will keep me thinking about them for a while. No wonderful stories, no poorly-written ones. Glad I read it.

Fun - Frederica is so focused on her family she forgets about herself. Alverstock is, he would assure you, utterly selfish and uninterested in other people. And they cross, in a simple request for help...the HEA is quite reasonable and convincing. I like Felix, too - wish we could see more of him.
