We are stardust brought to life, then empowered by the universe to figure itself out—and we have only just begun.
This book left me heartbroken and made me whole. Every character is so on point. So many years into medicine, living with preconceived notions, not wanting to change, how contrary is that to the forever changing science of medicine. Then there's the younger breed, keeping pace with the nuances but lacking experience. And how the need to love and be loved is just as important as practicing medicine. I've definitely learned a thing or two for myself
'Why canst thou be a good lass, Cathy?' And she turned her face up to his, and laughed, and answered, 'Why cannot you always be a good man, father?'
The most remarkable property of the universe is that it has spawned creatures able to ask questions.
"One must always be careful of books," said Tessa, "and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”
Either you like this book or you don't. Whatever you do, you'll have pretty strong opinions about it. The reasons why Hannah died might come off as stupid to some people but it wasn't just the reasons. It was how they added up inside the head of a person spiralling downwards into depression, with no one by her side. She slowly lost all her trust and hope and reached the point of no return. All of that, in a teenage mind. I could relate to it.
Being another shadowhunter book it kinda got repetitive for me initially but the plot picked up really fast and had me hooked. I don't really like the Carstairs bloodline cause of Jem but Emma, oh Emma, I tried keeping an unbiased view about her before starting the book and thank Raziel that I did cause she is amazing. Also, I don't like guys like Jules (the sweet ones) but man, am I in love with him! Great storyline. Cant wait for Lord of Shadows
