Lightwood | Steph Post
post image
Pickpick

LIGHTWOOD reads like a southern TWIN PEAKS and introduces characters who are almost impossible to like, but keep you enthralled throughout.

Post really ramps up the action when she needs to and leaves the reader feeling like they've also been involved in a series of heists and shootouts. If you binge watched TRUE DETECTIVE and JUSTIFIED and need something to keep you going, this is it.

Swimming Lessons | Claire Fuller

Kept meaning to take a shot of this passage from Claire Fuller's #SwimmingLessons. I love the sentence "Writing does not exist unless there is someone to read it." We like to think we write for ourselves, but deep down, we all write to be read. #amreading

Bray manages to capture summer perfectly in a single page. I'm sweating just reading about it.

The Girls: A Novel | Emma Cline
Pickpick

Just finished it this morning. Absolutely brilliant. Cline has a way of describing things where it seems like she's reached into your subconscious and plucked out the words you already knew, but hadn't arranged in the right order yet. Her prose is masterful and her characters are heartbreaking in their hopelessness. Read this if you haven't yet, then read it again.

That's it. I'm done trying to be a writer. With prose like this out there, why am I needed?

sprainedbrain More writers are always needed!! 8y

A deep look into real-life criminals & their love of solving the greatest urban dilemma: how to get into a building w/out using the front door. Feat. interviews w/retired & not-so-retired burglars, law enforcement, and private security personnel, ABGttC opens the vault door on the world of burglary.

A riveting story of the ship that watched the Titanic sink. I'd never heard about the SS Californian before, but Dyer made me feel like I was on the ship with the crew. Told from multiple POVs, TMW is a fascinating and heart-breaking look at one of history's greatest untold stories.
