Long Way Home: A Memoir | Saroo Brierley
Pickpick

This was probably my favorite book I have read in a long while. I read this, now retitled "Lion" after it's film adaptation, in one sitting in a few hours. I was literally on the edge of my seat at points and I was completely emotionally invested in the true story. Bring tissues. ❤️❤️❤️

I have been horrible about using Litsy lately, but let's hope I can turn my act around! Anyway, I recently read Thunderstruck, and I absolutely loved it. I actually prefer this book to Devil in the White City, and I was totally absorbed in both narratives. Definitely would recommend.

For the first few chapters I wasn't sure how much I was going to like this, but I'm 60 pages in now and it's starting to get to me! I'm sure it will be even more powerful and impactful as the pages go on. I'm excited to continue...

Very enlightening and interesting, and I feel like it explains a lot. I have found myself talking about this book for days since I have finished reading it. I recommend for everyone, whether you like history or not.

Finally got around to reading this play tonight. Amazing. Love the use of language and imagery, as always with Wilde, and his "perverse" take on the biblical story.

This was a quick and entertaining read. I didn't love or hate it. The questions are definitely something I would love to ask him! I just think a lot of the witticism and the information were things I've already read. Overall I enjoyed it though.

I was feeling in an Oscar Wilde kind of mood tonight and I knocked out two books toward my reading challenge on Goodreads. My friend bought me this one years ago for Christmas.

*I received this book from the Goodreads giveaway program.* This book was brutally honest and intense, and it evokes visceral responses. But it's an important true story about breaking the cycle of violence, and it is so worth reading.

reganarts So happy to hear you liked it! What a powerful story!! 8y

The art in this book is amazing and I love the narration. Just remember, you can't trust the maesters! 😉

inr4inbows Exactly! I was so thrilled when I saw that he chose to deploy his background through a maester's point of view! Makes it all the better to read and enjoy. Y'all gotta praise GRRM ;) 9y

I actually really loved this, even though it got some hate in reviews I have read. If you keep in mind what it is: an earlier draft of TKM (not a finished novel, nor sequel), it's easy to appreciate. Finding Atticus is flawed was refreshing & relatable to all of us who have once idealized a parent.

ReadosaurusText I couldn't agree more. Let's move on from Atticus being flawed and think of what a strong protagonist Scout is in the book! 9y
erinnhill Exactly. I was surprised that people were so hung up on him. Her character development in response to his was the most relatable/interesting part for me. 9y

It did not seem right to have my first Litsy post to be about anything except this book. ❤️ My absolute favorite.
