Blacks are treated as a group for negative things but as individuals for positive things.
...there‘s nothing in white America that 1 percent does that the other 99 percent have to pay for.

After reading All Your Perfects, which I felt did a good job of telling the rollercoaster story that is infertility, this just felt silly and so unbelievable. It felt rushed and just written to give readers a haphazard closure to Graham and Quinn's story.
Started this book right before baby was due and finally finished it one month later.
Classic who done it, pointing out many of the false securities suburbanites have. About halfway through, it became pretty predictable, but it was just the kind of easy reading I need during this new season of life I'm in.

As a special education teacher I appreciate how this YA novel brings attention to how we treat people with disabilities. Although I didn't always feel the author did a great job of portraying 10 and 11 year olds, she brought light to how often neurodiverse people can be underestimated. I also liked how she highlighted how neurotypical people tend to talk about neurodiverse students like they're not even there--a major problem!!

I wanted to love this, as I thoroughly enjoyed Wrong Place, Wrong Time, but this didn't quite hit the same way. Much of the detective work and scheming just seemed so far-fetched. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is what I would say if I could, to all smart people of the world with their dumb hillbilly jokes: We are right here in the stall. We can actually hear you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"This isn‘t bad news necessarily…you just weren‘t expecting it.”
Loved this book!

Kind of a cheesy read and not a lot of believable events in my opinion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Definitely a good beach read. I didn't really feel the title matched the story, and I didn't feel like the character development always made the most sense, but that's just me being picky.

A high school misfit (much like myself :), begins digging on a murder at her high school some 20 years later. With the help of young, fresh eyes, they uncover some new but very plausible suspects.

I love how by the end, you're wondering, which Fleishman is in trouble. I think having the narrator as a 3rd party helps to understand the idea that there are 3 sides to every story.

"What will happen?.....To you, when I tell them everything?" Eery but perfect.

Thank goodness for women like Elizabeth Zott! Such a good story about a woman putting herself first but still being able to find love, specifically during a time when it seemed women should be invisible.

A women who leaves her daughter alone is given a one year sentence at a school that teaches mothers to be "good." Although Frida's time at the school felt a bit dragged out, it also allowed to see how ridiculous the whole concept is. My heart broke for Frida.

This was an interesting read. It was all over the place and really made you feel like you were inside Gilda's mind. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending.

My initial reaction to this is, it's such a nice story. I think my favorite relationships were Emma with her parents and sister.

Stories about the KKK are just mind blowing. Paying $10 to hate/terrorize people---whaaat?!?!? I think what's more frightening are the many parallels in beliefs to things we still see today.

Always love an Alex North read. There's always an element of fantasy, in my opinion, but still as creepy as some of his others. Lots of twists and turns learning about how the characters were all connected, and I definitely appreciated the ending.

Really struggled to get into this book. The characters just felt a bit boring and I never really became invested in any of them. I did like the ending but can't say I'd recommend.

Absolutely loved this book! I love Sam, Sadie, and Marx's relationships--separately and as a whole, and I loved the games they created and how they represented so much of their lives and their hopes for the real world.

So many storylines happening in this but still so good. A marriage suffering through infertility, a husband fathering MANY children, and questions about multiple murders. I definitely had the wrong suspect all the way to the end. The Author's Note was a bit triggering for those going through infertility struggles, but I can always appreciate when more light is shed on this topic.

Definitely kept me on my toes, wondering who was the villain, and was surprised by the ending. The idea of the second door is super creepy and a bit far-fetched in my opinion, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Looking forward to checking out the Netflix series.

A quick read about a rich family from NYC facing a rape accusation. This book gave me a bit of whiplash trying to figure out who was telling the truth, mostly among the Quinn family, and the plot twist with Cassandra's life. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wanted to love this but I struggled with the disconnect between storylines for most of the book. Zeno's story was the only one I felt truly invested in throughout. I will say I loved how the pieces came together but still felt like I needed more from the ending and the characters' destinies. Overall, I'd still recommend.

This was my favorite out of the three. Continue to have trouble with all of the things that are wrong about these relationships, but liked the focus on the love surrounding friendships.

Read the first one, and it was so so, but have to read the series now that I've started.

Took me a while to get into this, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. The beginning just felt a bit wordy.
Loved this part and how it describes Margaret's love for Bird but also the necessity of what she's doing:
Who ever thinks, recalling the face of the one they loved who is gone: yes, I looked at you enough, I loved you enough, we had enough time, any of this was enough.

Selflessness. It should be the basis of every relationship. If a person truly cares about you, they'll get more pleasure from the way they make you feel, rather than the way you make them feel.

Such a love/hate with Colleen Hoover books--they are very addicting (for me) but so much toxicity and trauma, and the outcomes are just so unreal. Either way, already have my next two Hoover books lined up 🤪

We live in a world where exceptional women have to sit around waiting for mediocre men.

Definitely one of my favorites for the year, as I always enjoy time travel that requires reflection. I think the time travel for the purpose of life reflection was more meaningful for me than for the purpose of actually changing the outcome of the story; however, guessing what needed to change was also part of the enjoyment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one had me coming up with new theories all the way to the end. Enjoyed the twists and turns and how it jumped between past and present to put the pieces together.
Quite suspenseful. Many chapters had my heart racing. Thought Labuskes did a nice job with character development, creating many opinions about each one. Also liked how there was a mysterious connection between the characters and the serial killer.
Reality is thin ice, but most people skate on it their whole lives and never fall through until the very end. We did fall through, but we helped each other out. We're still helping each other.
Colleen Hoover has become my new Bravo TV. The love stories are always a bit dysfunctional but addicting nonetheless.
Such a good story. The determination and love that The Four had for each was inspiring. The stories of immigrants and their bravery is one that needs to be told, and I hope that Javier is able to reconnect with his "family."
I started this w/out knowing what it was about...big mistake! I was a wreck. Hoover perfectly describes so many of the thoughts and emotions a person goes through when struggling with infertility. And, as sad as it was and as close to home as this hits, I appreciate the ending...life doesn't always go according to plan and I love that Quinn is able to find herself and her happiness despite the change of course.
He's a ten but he's a fictional character in a book.
