The Glass Castle: A Memoir | Jeannette Walls
post image
Pickpick

The Glass Castle is a personal memoir of an unconventional childhood as a result of two free-spirited and responsibility-averse parents. It tells of an experience revolving around family and poverty. To lighten their struggles, the Walls family delusionally disguise their problems as “an adventure.”

alyssa.janola If you like books that focuses on issues of family, pride and the American dream, then this book is for you. It is non-fiction literature that is encouraging, unbiased and heartfelt. 3y
alyssa.janola The theme of the story largely focuses on maintaining/gaining strength from hardship. Throughout the memoir, the Walls children have to rely on themselves due to their parent‘s neglect. Jeannette, like her siblings, has to face problems like poverty, the alcoholism of his father, etc. 3y
alyssa.janola It is through this struggle that Jeannette gains valuable skills and experiences that would let her leave the poor conditions that her parents have shown her. Jeannette shows resilience and better knowledge due to her constant hardships. 3y
