I just finished the book the other day and immediately watched the movie after for the first time. I must say I was a little underwhelmed by the movie, considering how much I loved the book, but I see why the movie has earned its “cult classic” status and why it was so big at the time it came out. I was however very impressed with the practical effects (rip bruce the shark)
