Some part of me was expecting to find the reason for the tragedy, or to find the missing person, but this is a family drama not a mystery book!
I enjoyed the writing, it seemed the direct transfer of thoughts into paper, just as raw, confusing, repeated, emotional...
The insights it gives on dementia, love, care... it's beautiful! Simultaneously, the heavy weight of a tragedy that can drag a whole family down for decades... it's overwhelming!

This book is heart breaking! It was my first glimpse on Alzheimer's disease...
In what concerns the plot, I like how both "now" and "then" are told in parallel, we can see Sukey, Frank, Douglas and little Maud evolving, at the same time we also see big Maud evolving in her disease…
Who is really missing? You will have to read to find out!

First third was boring, then got interesting... Still, a little bit too long for me...
