Cute m/m romcom! The plot follows the blossoming love between the star of a reality dating show and a production assistant. One notable difference about this book is that it‘s much “cleaner” than other most of the other m/m romances I‘ve read in that there‘s no graphic sex scenes. There‘s only one brief, non-graphic sex scene, so TCO would be ideal for readers who yearn for romance between two guys with minimal smut. I really enjoyed this book!

I was going to give this book a thumbs up mainly for nostalgia‘s sake and because I found it a riveting read as a junior high kid, but I doubt that I‘d be able to bear reading it now due to the heart-wrenching suffering those poor sled dogs endure. In fact, maybe I‘m more traumatized than anything else because I still remember the fate of some in particular like poor Curly, Billee, Dave. It‘s a well-written book but rather unsettling to read.

Another favorite book of mine from my childhood back in the 80‘s. It‘s such a cute and heartwarming story, and will always hold a special place in my heart.

This was one of the very first books to have delighted me as a child way back in the 80‘s, and it must have left quite an impression on me for me to still remember it fondly after all these years. I hope that kids nowadays still read this book and are as delighted with it as I was!

I‘ll probably be disparaged for this review given Hemingway‘s status as a legendary author, but his writing is just not my cup of tea. Didn‘t enjoy his writing style (his avoidance of commas irks me) nor his subject matter (admittedly a personal issue; just not into the manly stuff he writes about like war) nor the plot/characters (now I see why some complain about the way he writes female characters). Glad I finally read one of his books, though.

Finally got around to reading this classic novel, and I‘m so glad I did. A touching plot, compelling narrator, a style of writing that‘s simple to read yet immersive storytelling and beautifully conveys the protagonist‘s perspective. I simply could not put this book down. A classic and acclaimed work of literature, yet also a captivating page turner.

Some may be put off by the Stockholm syndrome aspect of this novel, but the way that feelings gradually develop between Nathaniel (the abducted virgin) and Captain Seahawk (his pirate captor) doesn't come across as rushed or absurd. KBTP had me captivated from start to finish, swooning at tender moments shared between the two MCs and enjoying watching romance blossom between them. You'll need a cold shower after reading the steamy sex scenes lol.
